Youth Night Tonight as Jayettes Host Greene County
The Jayettes will host Greene County tonight at 6:00P. It will be more than softball action as Youth Night will be taking place. Coach Lutterman says “It should be a fun crowd.” This will be the second time these Heart of Iowa Conference rivals will meet up. Perry was a 6-4 winner in the first duel. Bell would blast a two-run homer to help propel the Jayettes to victory.
WM wins HOIAC title at 14-0 with win vs. Rams
A 12-0 Heart of Iowa Activities Conference baseball victory for West Marshall in State Center vs. Greene County Thursday night in make up action lifted the Trojans to an undefeated conference season at 14-0. Overall, WM has won 24 straight games, is 33-1, and they are the top ranked team in Class 2A. The Rams fell to 1-17 and they finish 1-13 in the league for last place.
Greene County softball loses 12-1 at Perry
Greene County and Perry met in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference softball on Wednesday at the Perry Athletic Complex with the Jayettes winning, 12-1 in five innings via the 10-run rule. Rams lose 1-0 to Perry in baseball
The Perry Athletic Complex was the site of Wednesday night Heart of Iowa Activities Conference baseball between Greene County and the Blue Jays. Perry won the game 1-0 on an unearned run in the bottom of the fifth to improve to 9-14 on the season and 6-8 in league play. The Rams dropped all but one of their 17 games and are 1-12 in the HOIAC.
More Soccer honors for Greene Co. boys
The Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association held its East/West Soccer Showcase in the Des Moines Metro on Saturday. Greene County was represented in the boys’ game by recent graduate and midfielder Nathan Behne. Behne scored 20 goals and assisted on 29 more during the Rams’ 11-3 season.
