Vehicle strikes, kills pedestrian on Thruway in Bethlehem
A Greene County man was killed early Sunday morning after he was struck by a vehicle on the Thruway in Bethlehem. State Police responded to the southbound lane of the highway south of Exit 23 just before 2 a.m. The investigation determined that James R. Gibson Jr., 36, of West Coxsackie, was walking in the right lane of travel when he was struck, police said. The driver immediately stopped and called for help.

Born on May 4, 1952, he graduated from Hunter-Tannersville Central High School in 1970, and earned his Associates Degree from Farmingdale State College in 1972. HHW Collection Event
Greene County Solid Waste Management will be holding a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection event from 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 29th at the Town of Windham Highway Department facility located at 83 County Route 21 (Mitchell Hollow Road) in Windham. This event is funded by the Greene County Legislature and is eligible for a 50% reimbursement grant through New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. This will be the second time the event will be held at this location. Another Household Hazardous Waste Collection is being planned for September 7th in Athens.
