GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) — Watauga Orthopaedics and Tusculum University will unveil a new walk-in clinic on Tusculum’s campus Thursday, which is available to students, staff and community members.

According to a release from the university, the clinic is located on Tusculum’s main campus on the ground floor of the Meen Center. Watauga Orthopaedics’ walk-in clinics provide a number of bone injury services for adults and children.

“Within our dedicated urgent orthopedic care unit, we focus on treating orthopedic injuries like fractures, strains, and other urgent orthopedic needs,” the provider’s website states.

The walk-in clinic features faster wait times for emergency orthopedic injuries that can’t wait. If an injury requires more specialized help, a referral can be made by the clinic’s staff to get scheduled for more comprehensive care.

CEO of Watauga Orthopaedics Kim Marden told News Channel 11 about the facility’s capabilities.

“We have nine exam rooms here at our new facility, as well as an X-ray suite and a beautiful brand new state-of-the-art physical therapy suite,” she said.

Marden said although it’s not set in stone, the clinic hopes to work out a way for Tusculum’s medical students to shadow staff members in the future.

“We’re super excited to [possibly] be able to host volunteer students and anyone that needs shadowing or extra health experience in our clinic. I know that Tusculum has a fantastic science program that we’re going to help them with here, and we have physical therapy on-site, so hopefully that will expand their educational opportunities.”

According to Marden, the new clinic at Tusculum is open to the public during normal business hours.

“We’re open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. No appointment is necessary. Please come in, because orthopedic injuries, you just never know when they’re going to happen. So we’re accepting walk-in patients at any time.”

The clinic’s first day of operation is slated for Monday.
