NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Historical Commission announced a new grant to help cover the cost of restoring National Register-listed historic properties in the state. Overall, $2 million is available from the Historic Property/Land Acquisition Fund (HPLAF) Grant Program this year. Applications are open now through Aug. 31. Crockett bids farewell to Jerry Lonon
Jerry Lonon said he thought he’d be the first head football coach at Daniel Boone and he hoped he’d be the second head coach at David Crockett. Neither opportunity materialized, but Lonon, who died earlier this month, jump-started the Boones Creek program as the head coach before helping engineer David Crockett’s 74-0 rout of Daniel Boone in the first Musket Bowl in 1971.

Lottery officials said the Powerball ticket, which matched five of the six numbers drawn with the Power Play option on Saturday, was sold at Publix, located off Pellissippi Parkway in the Northshore Town Center.
