Centennial Park's main playground gets new equipment and more shade in Waukee this fall
Waukee plans to upgrade the main playground at one of its larger parks this fall to appeal to more children and provide additional shade. Waukee City Council members unanimously approved a nearly $650,000 quote for the purchase of playground equipment, surfacing and other site amenities for Centennial Park's nearly 25-year-old central playground on July 15.
Oelwein couple seriously injured when three-wheeled motorcycle hit by car head-on
POSTVILLE, Iowa — An Oelwein couple is hospitalized after the three-wheeled motorbike they were riding was hit head-on by a car. It happened around 4:15pm Saturday afternoon at the intersection of Highways 18 and 52 west of Postville. The Alllamakee County Sheriff's Office says 31-yaer-old Mitchell Meyer of Dorchester swerved out of his lane to avoid a vehicle that had stopped to make a turn. WINTERSET, Iowa — It's been one year since former Winterset Chief of Police Ken Burke passed away unexpectedly after serving his community for 20 years. CCSD School Board Approved Of $213K Project For Fairview Playground Resurfacing
The Carroll Community School District’s Fairview Elementary playground will look a little different for the upcoming school year, with the resurfacing project approved during Monday’s Board of Education meeting. GameTime with Cunningham Recreation has been awarded the contract to resurface the area, replacing the woodchips with a soft, rubber surface. City Of Manning Donating A Newly Developed Lot To The IKM-Manning School District
The Manning City Council has approved donating one of the Stadium View Drive lots to the IKM-Manning School District for the school’s upcoming trade project. Back in June, the school district approved partnering up with Manning Municipal Utilities (MMU) to provide students with a work-based learning of the different trades used when constructing a new house. The City of Manning will donate one of the lots from the Stadium View pocket neighborhood to be the permanent location for the students’ project. Once completed, the house will become available for purchase by interested buyers. The other homes in the neighborhood are currently being designed and constructed by Origin Homes, a custom-home building contractor based out of West Des Moines.
