City Of Manning Donating A Newly Developed Lot To The IKM-Manning School District
The Manning City Council has approved donating one of the Stadium View Drive lots to the IKM-Manning School District for the school’s upcoming trade project. Back in June, the school district approved partnering up with Manning Municipal Utilities (MMU) to provide students with a work-based learning of the different trades used when constructing a new house. The City of Manning will donate one of the lots from the Stadium View pocket neighborhood to be the permanent location for the students’ project. Once completed, the house will become available for purchase by interested buyers. The other homes in the neighborhood are currently being designed and constructed by Origin Homes, a custom-home building contractor based out of West Des Moines. Carroll City Council To Review Ziegler, ECHO Group Developer Agreements And Plans For Burned Shelter House At Monday’s Meeting
Economic development will be the primary focus of the Carroll City Council’s upcoming meeting on Monday. The council convenes at 5:15 p.m. at Carroll City Hall on July 22. One of their first items of business is to cancel the public hearing for the Ziegler Caterpillar development agreement. City Manager Aaron Kooiker says it is important to understand this is a procedural cancellation, and Ziegler remains dedicated to building a new retail site on Carroll’s western edge.
Iowa National Guard unit will return 150 soldiers back from Middle East deployment
On Friday, the Des Moines Airbase hosted a special “welcome home” ceremony for a group of National Guard soldiers returning from a year-long deployment in the Middle East. The federal government activated the 831st Engineer Vertical Construction Company (EVCC) to support U.S. Central Command in a territory encompassing 27 countries. This encompassed Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
Three People Arrested for Assault in Red Oak
(Red Oak) Three people face assault charges following an incident in Red Oak. According to the press release, the charges stem from an incident in the 1800 block of N. 4th Street on Saturday night. As a result of the investigation, Officers arrested 35-year-old Micaela Morales and 35-year-old Douglas Walter Penry, both from Stanton, and 40-year-old Arthur Finton McCarthy of Ankeny.
Motorcycle Crash in Council Bluffs Claims One Life
(Council Bluffs) A motorcycle driver died from injuries suffered in a crash in Council Bluffs on Saturday. Council Bluffs Police say the accident happened around 3:04 p.m. at S. 17th and 2nd Avenue. The motorcycle struck the passenger side of a truck at the intersection. Council Bluffs Fire and Rescue, along with Council Bluffs Police, arrived at the location, and the driver of the motorcycle was transported to UNMC, where he has since passed away from the injuries he sustained from the accident. Authorities did not release the name.
