GREENFIELD, Ind. — Law enforcement has arrested three men for their alleged roles in a pair of Dollar General robberies.

According to a press release, 21-year-old Shannon Hoskins, 19-year-old Quentin Lewis and 18-year-old Shia Baker were all arrested and preliminarily charged with robbery.

Police first became aware of the trio’s activity around 7:06 p.m. on July 8. At that time, officers were called to a Dollar General located at 2000 W. Main St. on a report of a robbery.

As officers arrived at the Dollar General and began to establish a perimeter, police received a call about a robbery happening at a second Dollar General located at 1502 N. State St.

Police ultimately tracked down Hoskins, Lewis and Baker after they received a report about the second robbery. Law enforcement got some assistance from a Dollar General customer during their search for the three alleged robbers.

According to an affidavit for probable caused filed Monday, a Dollar General customer followed the suspects, who were driving a Nissan passenger car, from the scene of the second robbery. The Dollar General customer called police and provided up-to-date information on the suspects’ location as they followed the Nissan.

Court records indicate police ultimately caught up to the driver of the Nissan. Police reported that the driver of the Nissan had left the road and driven through a field while the Dollar General customer followed him.

The Nissan got stuck in a ditch near a factory construction site by I-70. Court documents show that the suspects left the car behind and ran into a nearby wooded area.

With the suspects having run into the woods, police requested a K-9 unit be sent to the area. Before K-9 officers even arrived at the scene, Hoskins was detained because police ordered him to come out of the woods and surrender, and he complied.

Per court records, law enforcement then deployed a K-9 to track down Lewis and Baker. The two men were located in the woods.

During their search through the woods, police also located a loaded Glock 10mm handgun magazine. Police also found a Glock in the car the suspects had used during the incident.

During an interview with the manager of the first Dollar General the trio allegedly robbed, police learned the men entered the store and asked to have $120 loaded onto a Cash App card. The men then asked store employees to break a large bill for them.

When a store employee opened the register to break the bill, one of the men grabbed cash from the drawer and ran from the scene. The men reportedly took $109 from the first Dollar General.

At the second Dollar General, the suspects employed a similar tactic. The men brought a few items to the register to check out. They then handed an employee cash to pay for the items. When the employee opened the drawer to make change, one of the men grabbed money from the register.

When they attempted to flee, however, a store employee blocked the entrance to the Dollar General. According to court documents, the men ultimately escaped from the store and fled the scene, though they damaged the business’ door in the process.

An employee at the second Dollar General reported that the men took $234 from the store.

Court records show that police found $130 on Hoskins’ person. They also recovered $680 during their search of the woods.

Hoskins, Lewis and Baker were booked into Hancock County Jail after police detained them. Below are the formal charges each of the individuals involved face:

    Shannon Hoskins

    • Robbery, Level 5 Felony (two counts)
    • Criminal mischief, Class B Misdemeanor

    Quentin Lewis

    • Robbery, Level 5 Felony

    Shia Baker

    • Robbery, Level 5 Felony (two counts)

The maximum penalty for a Level 5 Felony in Indiana is a six-year prison sentence and a fine of up to $10,000.
