    Woman sentenced in Charlemont deadly crash

    GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A North Adams woman pled guilty to a motor vehicle accident where a motorcyclist was killed.

    Melissa Repka, 39, of North Adams pleaded guilty in Greenfield District Court Tuesday to motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation.

    According to investigators, on April 12, 2023 Repka and a passenger were traveling eastbound on Route 2 in Charlemont in an SUV. Repka pulled over at a rest stop, and when she pulled out, made a U-turn to drive west and struck motorcyclist Gregory Herzig, 66 of Colrain. He was killed as a result of the crash.

    Judge William Mazanec sentenced Repka to 2 ½ years in jail with 9 months to be served and the balance suspended while she is on probation for two years. Additionally, Repka’s license will be revoked for 15 years.
