After being named one of four finalists for a city manager job in Manhattan, Kansas, Springfield City Manager Jason Gage has withdrawn his candidacy. Gage has worked for the city of Springfield for six years. Gage was hired in 2018 after working in Salina, Kansas, for 18 years also as city manager. LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) - An Olathe woman was injured in a collision on K-10 southwest of Lawrence after a Lee’s Summit vehicle tailgated and then rear-ended an SUV. The Douglas County, Kansas, Sheriff’s Office says that around 3:50 p.m. on Friday, July 26, emergency crews were called to the area of K-10 and Wakarusa Dr., along the South Lawrence Trafficway near the Clinton Lake Youth Sports Complex, with reports of a 2-vehicle collision.

Grace United Methodist Church hosts successful Kicks 4 Kids shoe giveaway
Grace United Methodist Church held its annual Kicks 4 Kids shoe giveaway Saturday, bringing much-needed footwear and other essential services to local children. "About seven years ago, a youth group of junior high and high school students recognized a need in their schools," said organizer Russ Conrade. "Some kids couldn't participate in gym or PE because they didn't have the proper shoes, or any decent shoes at all. It started as a way to help them and has just grown from there. It’s an opportunity to reach out and share a little bit of God's love with those around us."

Emporia Area Retired School Personnel Activities
As August approaches, teachers and staff will be headed back to the area schools. We wish for everyone to have a great school year. Some former staff members are going to be experiencing retirement for the first time. Emporia Area Retired School Personnel invite you retirees to become a part of our group. We promote educational, social, health, professional and economic issues in our area. We also encourage volunteerism through personal contributions and community service group activities. It is a great group for fellowship and friendship. We meet the second Friday of every month in the large meeting room at the Emporia Recreation Center at 11:45. All retirees (not just the ones from this year) are invited to attend. We have a meal, a program, and a short business meeting. Recent retirees will be receiving a personal letter of invitation soon.
Hutchinson Regional Medical Foundation launches housing program
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Regional Medical Foundation (HRMF) announces its launch of a housing program that encourages providers to live in the community they serve. At the end of HRMF’s fiscal year, a budget of $750,000 was solidified to support this new program and initiative, which focuses on a three-year commitment from the provider in exchange for a housing incentive to purchase a home in Reno County.
