Athens-Clarke County Police Department investigates fatal car crash
Gustavo Guerra Martinez, 40, was transported to a local hospital after his 2005 Toyota Tundra struck a tree on Wednesday, July 31, at approximately 9:04 a.m. Athens-Clarke County Police Department officers responded to the 400 block of Fowler Drive to find the unresponsive driver following the single-vehicle accident. The officers began life-saving efforts, but Guerra died in the hospital from his injuries. This is the fifth fatal crash in Athens-Clarke County in 2024.
