Georgia football has seven players named to Nagurski, Outland preseason watch lists
The Outland Trophy and Bronko Nagurski Trophy announced their preseason watch lists on Tuesday, continuing two weeks of reveals, and Georgia was well-represented on both lists. Georgia defensive back Malaki Starks, linebacker Smael Mondon, and defensive end Mykel Williams were all named to the Nagurski Trophy watch list. Last year Georgia had Starks, Williams, and linebacker Jamon Dumas-Johnson on the list, with Starks finishing the season as a finalist. Dumas-Johnson, now at Kentucky, did not make this year's watch list. The Nagurski has been awarded to college football's top defensive player by the Football Writers Association of America since 1993. The award is named after Bronko Nagurski, who played for Michigan and the Bears. Ohio State leads all programs with four on the watch list, with Georgia and Iowa next with three players each on the 75-player list. The only Georgia player to win the award is cornerback Champ Bailey, who did so in 1998.

Analysis: Similar to the wide receiver position, don’t be too fixated on who is listed where when it comes to this group. Georgia will rotate at both guard and tackle. That’s not just to develop depth, but also find the best five-man combination for the offensive line.
