Chandler’s to Soft Open on July 3rd at 341 S Elm St

Chandler’s , a new café and bar offering coffee, eats, and cocktails, is set for a soft opening on July 3, 2024 .

Located at 341 S Elm St, the site formerly known as The Green Bean , Chandler’s aims to be a community hub with live music and art.

Owners Alexis and Josh Chandler , with over 13 years in the Greensboro community, bring extensive service industry experience to this new venture. Josh will continue his job at REI Greensboro but will help out at Chandler’s during his free time. The Chandlers did not respond to What Now Charlotte’s request for comment.

Chandler’s has partnered with Loom Coffee Co. Roasters , founded by Christopher Pierce and Ashley Griffeth , to offer high-quality coffee.

The Green Bean, opened in 2002, has undergone multiple changes in name, ownership, and management. It was most recently owned by Caleb and Lilou Foresman , who bought it from Caleb’s mother, Amy Foresman , amid controversy over management and pay issues reported in November 2023.

Alexis Chandler acknowledges the controversy but believes the Foresmans are “really good people” who did their best with the coffee shop. She has received no negative feedback about the name change and believes the community is excited about the new concept.

The transition from The Green Bean to Chandler’s is happening quickly. Originally set for an October 2024 opening, the date was moved up after the Foresmans decided to move to the Philippines. The Chandlers have been working on the space during The Green Bean’s off hours.
