GREENSBORO, N.C. (WNCN) — A Durham man was killed in a crash on Interstate 85 in Guilford County on Tuesday, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said.

Troopers responded to a report of a crash on I-85 south near N.C. 62 around 10:50 a.m. Tuesday. According to highway patrol, a 2021 Lexus went off the road to the left and struck a tree, causing the vehicle to catch on fire.

The driver, 36-year-old David Hollander-Urbach of Durham, died at the scene, highway patrol said.

The crash caused the closure of one southbound lane on I-85 for about three hours as investigators worked the scene. It was cleared around 1:51 p.m. Tuesday, according to troopers.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
