Natty Greene’s in Greensboro christens new beer garden, entertainment pavilion in honor of 20th anniversary

GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — Natty Greene’s Brewing opened its first location on South Elm Street in August 2004. Now, the brewery is celebrating two decades of success with the addition of the Natty Greene’s beer garden next to the South Elm Street location.

According to a news release from Natty Greene’s, the new beer garden features a large, natural space, an entertainment pavilion and expanded brewing capabilities. A Paul Mueller stainless steel system allows the production of more than 1,000 barrels of beer per year, more than doubling Natty Greene’s brewing capacity.

The serving area will allow patrons to sample brews “straight from the source” through six serving tanks that will filter beer directly to taps on site, ensuring the same flavor profile between production and consumption.

Natty Greene’s says all of the new furniture in the pavilion is made of 100% recycled materials and reclaimed wood, honoring the “green” part of its name.

Spent grain, or what’s leftover from malted barley, wheat, rye, or oats used during the brewing process, will be given to local farmers to be reused as farm animal food.

“When we set out 20 years ago, we wanted to create not just a brewery, but a community of people dedicated to bringing downtown back to life. We realized early on our responsibility to be good stewards of downtown and to support our neighbors in any way possible. We hope the addition of the beer garden will do just that and keep the momentum of creative growth going”, said Natty Greene’s owner, Chris Lester.

To celebrate the opening of the beer garden, Natty Greene’s is hosting a 3-day Natty-versary block party with a ribbon-cutting and grand opening of the new pavilion beginning Aug. 2.
