Great Bend Alive's Fridays on Forest have been a nice way to celebrate all things Great Bend. One of the community's largest events is scheduled for Sept. 20-22 as Airfest returns for a fifth edition. One man is dead after Salina police officers and troopers from the Kansas Highway Patrol exchanged gunfire with him Wednesday evening. Taking applications for opening seat on Barton CC Board of Trustees
At the end of June, Don Learned publicly announced his resignation from the Barton Community College Board of Trustees due to moving to Texas later this summer. At Monday’s board meeting, Chairman Mike Johnson said the college is still accepting applications to fill Learned’s remaining term which ends Dec. 31, 2025.
