The Butler County Farmers Market kicked off its season on May 18, welcoming several local vendors and a variety of fresh goods.

“We currently have things like cucumbers, potatoes, squash and onions,” said Assistant Market Manager Michelle Buffy Styron. “We also have herbs, canned goods and baked goods. There’s a lot of different kinds of cakes and scones.”

As the growing season progresses, more fruits and vegetables will be available.

“We’ll have lots of other things; it just has to get to the time for them to be harvested, and we’re not quite there yet,” Styron added.

The market provides a friendly and relaxed atmosphere that is appreciated by both vendors and shoppers. Jill Marlar, owner of Delta Dawn Scones, emphasized the market’s inviting environment.

“What a welcoming and comfortable space for local vendors where it’s easy for folks to visit,” Marlar said. “Friendly farmers and vendors offering up a variety of locally grown food and products. We are grateful to be a part of this event.”

In addition to her homemade scones, Marlar will be selling a specially roasted coffee blend by Amavida Coffee called the Camellia City blend every Saturday at the market. With the promise of more seasonal produce to come, the market is set to be a central hub for the community to enjoy fresh, local products.

Arts and crafts vendor spaces will be available beginning July 6 but space is limited. For the latest updates on the Butler County Farmers Market, follow their social media pages or visit the market on Saturday mornings.

The market is located at 701 Cedar Street in Greenville.
