Historical society to feature Parmer book signing

Walter R. Parmer announced Friday that his family history book, “Wagon Train Friends and Relatives,” has been published. The book is a 400 year history of the migration of the Palmer, Parmer, Rhodes, Waller, Bolling and related families from the Eastern Shores of Maryland and Virginia to South Central Alabama and the Pacific West Coast.

Greenville, and many Butler County families, play a large role in the pages of the work. The included family stories provide a glimpse of life for ancestors who lived through the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, the Great Depression and two World Wars with personal determination. Parmer said he hopes the book will become a source document for future generations of researchers.

Parmer invites everyone to attend the Butler County Historical and Genealogical Society’s Quarterly Meeting on Saturday, July 27 at 2 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Family Life Center of First Baptist Church in Greenville with a book signing and reception immediately following.

“I’ll have copies of my book available at the meeting and offered at a discount,” Parmer said. “My presentation of stories about many Butler County families will be of interest to many who attend.”
