Upstate teen charged with murder after woman's body found

An Upstate teenager has now been arrested in connection to the murder of a Greenville County woman, last week. As we previously reported the body of 38 year old Kasia Dierra Simmons of Simpsonville was found along the side of a road in Greenwood on June 12th.

The victim's body was found with at least one gunshot wound. On Tuesday the Greenville County Sheriff's Office arrested 17 year old, Mon'Drikus Raphael Griffin of Greenville in connection to the case.

Investigators say Griffin and Simmons were in her vehicle together, when Griffin shot her and dumped her body, before fleeing in her car.

The vehicle was found abandoned in Greenwood, a day after Simmons body was discovered. Griffin is charged with murder, carjacking and a weapons violation.
