Whataburger, the iconic Texas-based burger chain, is set to open its first South Carolina location in Boiling Springs on Monday, July 15. This marks a significant milestone for the chain as it expands into its 16th state. The grand opening event will kick off at 11 a.m. at 3647 Boiling Springs Road in Spartanburg County.

Founded by Harmon Dobson in Corpus Christi, Texas, on August 8, 1950, Whataburger started as a modest establishment but quickly grew in popularity. By 1961, there were over a dozen locations, and by 1980, the chain had expanded to 300 restaurants. The Dobson family owned and operated the San Antonio-based chain until they sold their majority stake in 2019. Since then, Whataburger has accelerated its expansion and now operates more than 1,000 locations nationwide.

To celebrate its debut in South Carolina, the Boiling Springs Whataburger will offer special promotions and events. On July 15, the first four people in the drive-thru lane will receive gift baskets that include free Whataburger for a year. Additionally, the next 350 customers will receive gift packs. The grand opening celebration will feature a parking lot party from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., including Whataburger-themed games with prizes, a face-painting station, a photo booth, and a shaved ice truck.

This Boiling Springs location is just the beginning of Whataburger's expansion into South Carolina, with plans to open up locations in Greenville, Spartanburg, Anderson, and more.

With these new locations, Whataburger is set to make a significant impact in the South Carolina fast-food market, offering its beloved burgers and unique dining experience to a whole new audience.
