The region woke to a bit of a mess Wednesday morning after some wicked storms swept through Tuesday night. Straight line winds knocked down trees and power lines, leaving thousands of people without power.
Update: Severe thunderstorm warning previously issued will expire at midnight
The warning was for Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem counties. "The storms which prompted the warning have weakened below severe limits, and no longer pose an immediate threat to life or property. Therefore, the warning will be allowed to expire. However gusty winds and heavy rain are still possible with these thunderstorms. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1 a.m. for southern New Jersey," states the National Weather Service.
