Governor’s Task Force Arrests Dover Man for Drug Offenses and Resisting Arrest
Delaware State Police arrested 34-year-old Jesus Torres of Dover, Delaware, on multiple drug and resisting arrest charges after a pursuit near Seaford yesterday. On July 16, 2024, at approximately 3:47 p.m., a member of the Sussex County Governor’s Task Force saw an Acura MDX fail to use its turn signal as it was turning onto German Road from Concord Pond Road. The Acura initially did not stop when the detective tried to pull it over. The Acura ultimately came to a stop at a dead end on Jewell Street, at which point the detective attempted to arrest the driver, later identified as Jesus Torres. Torres failed to comply with verbal commands and struck the detective several times as he physically resisted arrest. Torres was able to escape and fled on foot but was apprehended a short time later. After Torres was taken into custody, detectives searched the Acura and found approximately 21.95 grams of powder cocaine, and $932 in suspected drug dealing proceeds.

Blair has over 17 years of experience in selective admissions at the University of Pennsylvania. She was made Director of MBA Admissions in 2018. In the fall of 2022, Blair took over leadership of the Wharton MBA for Executives Admissions Office and was named Executive Director of Graduate Admissions. Blair has a deep passion for the business of admissions. She has a masters degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education studying early decision programs at selective schools. She hails from suburban Washington, D.C., and currently resides with her family in the suburbs of Philadelphia.
Mannequin from the movie 'Mannequin' to be special guest at Friday screening in East Passyunk
The cult classic 1987 film "Mannequin" will be screened in South Philly this weekend, and the (inanimate) titular character will be there as the guest of honor. An outdoor screening of "Mannequin," which was primarily filmed in Philadelphia, will be held Friday, July 19, at 7 p.m. at Mifflin Triangle (1845 East Passyunk). The free event will feature cocktails, music and an appearance by Emmy — a mannequin used in the film.

How to get paid for picking up illegally dumped tires with Philadelphia's Tire Round-up Program
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — How would you like to get paid for helping clean up your neighborhood?Philadelphia is offering community groups money to get rid of tires that were illegally dumped across the city with the Tire Round-up Program.Here's how it works: Block captains and community groups need to register with the city to participate in the program and then you'll get paid 50 cents for every tire you bring to a drop-off site starting July 27.Registration is limited to the first 150 community groups each year, and each group can collect a maximum of 1,000 tires.Here is how to register for the program:Identify a Tire Round-up coordinator within your group.Call the Philadelphia More Beautiful Committee at (215) 685-3981 to request an agreement form.Complete the agreement form. Fill out and email the form to tireroundup@phila.gov to register. You must include proof of your group's federal tax ID number and designation as a 501(c)(3) as part of registration.Philadelphia More Beautiful Committee will notify you if you can participate.
