    City pool

    The Greenville Outdoor Aquatic Center at Eppes Recreation Center, 400 Nash St., is open 1:30-6 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, noon-5 p.m. Saturday and 1-6 p.m. Sunday through Aug. 11. Fees apply. Call 329-4563.

    Ayden Museum

    The Ayden Historical and Arts Society Museum in the old Dixon Medical Building, 554 Second St., is open from 10:30 to 2:30 p.m. every Thursday through Saturday and 2-4 p.m. every fourth Sunday. Times can also be scheduled by appointment by calling 746-4209. There is no admission fee but donations are welcome.

    Food pantry

    Word of Truth Anointed Ministries operates Shepherd’s Food Pantry from 1-6 p.m. every Friday at 7227 Stantonsburg Road, Farmville. To volunteer or for more information call Sandra at 341-9949 or visit wordoftruthanointedministries.org

    Sunday in the Park

    The 2024 Sunday in the Park concert series will continue this week with a performance by Train Wreck at the Greenville Town Common, 100 E. First St. The free, annual series is hosted by Greenville’s Recreation and Parks Department. Visit greenvillenc.gov. In case of inclement weather, call 758-7246 for cancellation information.

    Barbershop quartet

    Magnolia Arts Center will host The Carolina Chord Connection at 3 p.m. Sunday. The performance will include a cappella barbershop harmonies, songs in a variety of styles as well as jokes. Tickets are $15 and are available at magnoliaartscenter.com or at the door.

    Farmville fall sports

    Farmville Parks and Recreation has announced fall sports registration is open. Youth may participate in soccer, tee-ball, softball, baseball, flag football and basketball. Fees are $40-$50/player. Fees increase by $15 two weeks prior to registration closing. Visit Farmville Town Hall, www.farmvillencparks.com or call 753-6722.

    Shaw University Alumni

    The Pitt County Chapter of Shaw University National Alumni Association will celebrate with family and friends from 6-11 p.m. on Aug. 2 at Greenville Country Club, 216 Country Club Drive. The event will feature Shaw’s representative, representatives of Congressman Don Davis’ office, a gospel comedienne, music, and a meal. Attire is semi-formal. Proceeds from this event will provide scholarships to students at the university.     Ayden-Grifton 50th Reunion

    The Ayden-Grifton class of 1974 will celebrate its 50th class reunion at 6 p.m. on Aug. 3 at the Hilton Greenville, 207 S.W. Greenville Blvd. A meet and greet will be Aug. 2 at Julep in the Hilton. There is no charge to attend the meet and greet.     National Night Out

    The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office is planning National Night Out events from 6-8 p.m. on Aug. 6 at Bell Arthur EMS, 466 Stantonsburg Road, and G.R. Whitfield School, 4839 School Road, Grimesland.
