    Greenville Tar Heel team wins 10-12-year-old division state title

    WILSON, N.C. (WNCT) — The Greenville Tar Heel 10-12-year-old baseball team won the state championship Thursday with a win over Bull City Little League out of Durham.

    The team won 10-0, sweeping through the state tournament by winning four games and outscoring opponents 45-3. The team also had a tournament-best 1.05 earned run average.

    They defeated Cherryville, Lake Norman, East Chatham and Bull City in the tournament. This is the first state title for the team since 2021 and 12th overall.

    Members of the team include: Mason Lanier, Easton Meadows, Rob Rhodes, Mason Williams, Conner Senatore, Cannon Warren, Brayden Winfield, Jackson Jabs, Logan Kendrick, Tilghman Dody, Collin Linkous, Haiden Simo, Manager Raymie Styons, Assistant Coach Scott Senatore and Assistant Coach Brack Massey.

    The team advances to the Little League Baseball Southeast Region Tournament in Warner Robins, GA to try to earn a spot in the Little League World Series.

    Greenville has had teams in the LLWS twice, in 1998 (Tar Heel) and 2017 (North State). Tar Heel opens play in Warner Robins on Aug. 1 against the state championship team from Georgia.
