The American Athletic Conference announced game and opponent assignments for the upcoming men’s basketball season.

East Carolina’s conference schedule will consist of 18 league games, with three opponents in home-only games, three opponents in away-only games and six home-and-home series.

The Pirates will play six teams inside Minges Coliseum and on the road — South Florida, Florida Atlantic, Temple, Tulane, UTSA and Charlotte.

ECU will host UAB, North Texas and Rice. The three road-only games are Memphis, Wichita State and Tulsa.

Conference play begins Dec. 31 with the final day of AAC taking place on March 9, 2025. The AAC tournament, held at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, will take place March 12-16.

The full slate of dates and times for all AAC games will be released at a later date.

    ECU women’s basketball

The East Carolina women’s basketball team learned of its conference opponents this upcoming season when the AAC announced the schedules on Thursday.

Like on the men’s side, the Pirates will play six teams at home and on the road — South Florida, Temple, Rice, UTSA, Florida Atlantic and Charlotte.

The Pirates will hit the road for standalone contests with Rice, Memphis and UAB while North Texas, Tulane and Wichita State will come to Minges Coliseum for single home games.

ECU is coming off two seasons that ended in a 2023 AAC tournament title and a spot in the NCAA Tournament, and a 2024 title-game berth.

The full slate of dates and times for all conference games is set to be released at a later date.

    ECU football

Two East Carolina football players were named to the East-West Shrine Bowl watch list.

ECU defensive back Shavon Revel Jr. and wide receiver Winston Wright Jr. landed on the list, the bowl association announced.

The 100th edition of the iconic East-West Shrine Bowl will be played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, home of the Dallas Cowboys. The game will kickoff at 8 p.m. on Jan. 30, 2025 and be nationally televised on NFL Network.

Revel has 62 career tackles (33 solo) with 3.5 tackles for loss (-20 yards) and 1.0 sack (-14 yards). He is credited with 14 career pass breakups.
