    Donation Station

    The Leroy James Farmers Market, 4560 County Home Road, will host its Donation Station 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday to collect food and monetary contributions for a local hunger relief agency. The station also will provide information on nutrition, recipes and more.

    Browntown picnic

    The annual Browntown Community Picnic Day will take place at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday at 4618 N.C. 258, Snow Hill. Guests can set up a tent or picnic table and bring their own food, drinks and chairs. Personal grills are welcome or bring charcoal to use the community grill. Tents are available for rent via Cederic Warren. Call 315-7002 for information. The event also will feature historians on site to examine antiques brought in by participants.

    Art exhibits

    Emerge Gallery, 404 Evans St., is hosting the K-12 Student Art Exhibition for Pitt County Schools. Visit emergegallery.com. Greenville Museum of Art, 802 S. Evans St., is hosting “The Home I Never Knew: Ni de Aquí, Ni de Allá.” The exhibit, which will remain on display through Nov. 1 in the West Wing and Commons galleries, features the work of two dozen artists and emphasizes the diversity of experiences and identities among Latino communities associated with being both from the United States and from their countries of origin.     National Night Out

    The Pitt County Sheriff’s Office is planning National Night Out events from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Bell Arthur EMS, 466 Stantonsburg Road, and G.R. Whitfield School, 4839 School Road, Grimesland.     ECU Alumni

    The ECU Alumni Association is holding an ENC Chapter Launch Party from 5:30-9 p.m. on Thursday at TowneBank Tower, 100 Ficklen Drive. The evening includes a performance by country artist Cooper Greer, dinner, drinks raffle prizes and the chance to have a photo taken with PeeDee the Pirate. Tickets are $25.     Comic Con

    Greenville Comic Con will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Aug. 10 at the Greenville Convention Center, 303 S.W. Greenville Blvd. Tickets are $7 for adults, $3 for youth 4-12 and free for children 3 and younger. For tickets and more information, go to greenevillenccomiccon.com.

    Ronald McDonald House

    The eighth annual Ronald McDonald House of Eastern NC Telethon will take place from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Aug. 16, airing live on WNCT. Last year’s telethon raised over $50,000. The broadcast will feature fundraising updates and stories about how the house helps families whose children are hospitalized.     Fall mum sale

    The Greene Central High School Future Farmers of America is hosting its annual mum sale. Pre-orders are due by Sept. 3 and the pick-up date in Sept. 23.
