GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Pitt County emergency leaders are reminding people about the danger on the roads, even after the rain has fallen.

Some areas around Pitt County are still showing some signs of flooding as the area is prone to flash floods. Emergency personnel said people should drive slowly in severe weather, check their tire treads, plan for more time and make an emergency kit.

“It’s important to practice these safety measures, so when these events happen, you’re ready to go, you’re able to sustain yourself and your neighbors for a longer period of time and you’re not dependent on calling first responders out in the field to make their job in the field any more dangerous than it has to be,” Pitt County Emergency Management Planner Tyler Rhodes said.

Rhodes said areas North of the river experience more flooding during weather events like hurricanes.
