    Austintown advances in Little League World Series

    GREENVILLE, NC (WKBN) – The Austintown 12U softball team defeated the Monterrey, Mexico team in the first round of the Little League Softball World Series in Greenville, North Carolina, Sunday afternoon.

    Austintown represents the Central Region in the Little League Softball World Series. Monterrey, Mexico represents the Latin America Region.

    This is the second consecutive year Austintown has competed in the Little League Softball World Series.

    Austintown will play against the Southeast team from Salisbury, North Carolina, in the second round of the World Series, from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 5.
