According to Carrie Miller, a spokesperson with the Anderson County Sheriff's Office, Joshua Scott Edwards, 19, of Anderson, and a friend went kayaking Saturday in the Singing Pines recreation area on Lake Hartwell near Iva when they were caught in an unexpected storm.

The friend, who was not identified, made it back to shore and contacted authorities to report Edwards missing, Miller said.
