Today may be Friday the 13th, but if you are a foodie, you might just be in luck.

Krispy Kreme and Wendy's are both offering discounts and freebies for customers who choose to order in store or online.

Friday the 13th occurs only twice this year, so you don't want to miss out on these limited time deals.

Here's what Krispy Kreme and Wendy's are offering customers on this spooky day.

Krispy Kreme offering 13 cent dozens

Customers can get a dozen glazed donuts for 13 cents with the purchase of any dozen or 16-count Minis at regular price, according to a USA TODAY story . The offer is available Friday at participating stores with a limit of one dozen per customer in-shop for pickup. It is also available for delivery through with the use of promo code "13" through the Krispy Kreme app.

    Free French fries at Wendy's

Wendy's Rewards members can enjoy any size of hot and crispy fries for free with any in-app purchase. For the rest of the month, customers can also buy a small Frosty for $1.

What makes Friday the 13th an unlucky day?

Although the origins of Friday the 13th are shrouded in mystery, History traces the day of bad luck back to biblical tradition during the Last Supper. The feast which included Jesus and his 12 apostles is believed to have occurred on Maundy Thursday. Jesus' crucifixion would take place the next day ― a day also known as Good Friday.

A Christian superstition regarding the number of guests seated at a table would soon arise in the wake of these events. Having 13 guests at a table would be considered a bad omen that could lead to death.

"Though Friday's negative associations are weaker, some have suggested they also have roots in Christian tradition: Just as Jesus was crucified on Friday, Friday was also said to be the day Eve gave Adam the fateful apple from the Tree of Knowledge, as well as the day Cain killed his brother, Abel." said History.com.

When is the next Friday the 13th in 2024?

The next Friday the 13th will occur in December 2024.
