Most of us remember our first college apartments, scraped together with limited funds and leftover furniture from relatives. These four roommates managed to pull off something way more chic.

Meet Tess, Elle, Anna Katherine and Julia, who started with collaborative Pinterest boards for inspiration and let their creativity run wild. Elle took the lead on design, starting with colors and textures that feel like home for all four.

Special touches include a gallery wall, filled with small trinkets and details important to the roommates. Most of the artwork was sourced from Elle's grandmother, which added another special touch. And while these ladies might have other career aspirations at the moment, they certainly have an eye for design.

Top 3 Tips to Recreate This Look:

• High style does not need to include a matching price tag . Stretch your budget by thrifting and buying second hand. We used Goodwill and Facebook Marketplace for this project, and love knowing there is history behind each piece.
• Keep a tight color palette to make the overall look cohesive. A collection of thrifted items can look chaotic -- start with a neutral base and add fun pops of color that tie everything together. We chose blush pink and contrasting shades of green in artwork and accessories to achieve cohesiveness.
• Use interior design magazines as inspiration and add your own spin. We were going for an updated shabby chic vibe with a touch of haute bohemian.
