    Deshaun Watson injury update: Former Clemson QB carted off in Browns-Bengals game

    Former Clemson football quarterback Deshaun Watson appears to have suffered a significant injury in the Cleveland Browns ' Sunday game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

    While stepping up in the pocket late in the second quarter, Watson suffered a non-contact injury and was later carted off the field.

    Here's the latest on Watson's injury:

    5:06 p.m.: Browns coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed in his postgame news conference that he believes Watson will be out for the season with an Achilles injury.

    Watson will undergo more testing to confirm.

    3 p.m.: The Browns have ruled out Watson for the remainder of the game with an Achilles injury. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Watson is believed to have suffered a season-ending injury .

    While stepping up in the pocket, Watson appeared to suffer a lower-leg injury to his right leg. He lost his balance but recollected himself and stayed down on the field. Watson was carted off the field and was in tears as his teammates and Bengals players came over to console him.

    According to Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot, Watson sustained an Achilles injury. The Browns have not yet ruled him out. Watson had completed 15 of 17 passes for 128 yards at the time of his injury. He has thrown for 1,028 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions in six games entering Sunday.

    Dorian Thompson-Robinson took over for Watson following his injury, and as usual, backup Jameis Winston was inactive.

    Watson, 29, played for the Tigers from 2014-16 before becoming the No. 12 overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft by the Houston Texans. Watson has been with the Browns since the 2022 season.
