As the BMW Charity Pro-Am Tournament prepares to begin this weekend, several celebrity guests are making a detour to a local annual event.

Comedian, Actor, and Singer Larry the Cable Guy, Former NFL Quarterback Ryan Leaf, Director and Actor Justin Wheelon, NHL Defenseman and Olympian James Wisniewski and NFL Quarterback Vince Young are all visiting the BMW Pro-Am Tournament in Greenville this weekend.

But first, they’re making a pit stop Wednesday at Roper Mountain Science Center for the annual Butterfly Encounter.

“We’ll take them around to interact with some of the animals and the kids and, of course, the butterfly rainhouse and just basically experience what we have here and have a chance to meet and greet some of our visitors.” Roper Mountain Development Specialist Phyllis Henderson said. “

She explained that the guests will be signing autographs and promoting the science center’s now 4th-annual Summer Adventure program.

“We have a long partnership with BMW as a partner of the work that we do here and the tournament,” Henderson said. “It helps us to promote our programming as well as promote the work that we do here and provide opportunities for the celebrities that are here not only to play in the tournament and have a good time enjoying Greenville, but to connect with the community in a different way.”
