Greenville woman critically injured in weekend sexual assault

A Greenville woman is undergoing treatment after she was brutally assaulted. Police say the woman was critically injured June 8th after she was sexually assaulted before dawn on Worley Road.

The suspect in the case has been identified as  Robert Voorhees.  According to police, the victim and Vorhees met earlier that night.  The victim said she did not know Vorhees before the night of assault.

Police believe community members may have more information pertaining to this case and are asking them to come forward.  Information can be shared anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers of Greenville at 864-23-CRIME.

Voorhees is charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, criminal sexual conduct first-degree and kidnapping. He faced similar charges back in 2015.
