Upstate reservoir named best lake for swimming in USA Today ranking

A man-made lake in the Upstate known for its crystal-clear water finds itself atop a national ranking.

USA Today has named Lake Jocassee as the country’s top swimming lake in its best lakes and rivers in the U.S. ranking.

USA TODAY 10Best used a panel of experts to nominate their favorite places across each of six categories, according to its website. Readers then voted for their top picks to determine the winners. The six categories are: Best Fishing Lodge; Best Lake; Best Lake for Swimming; Best Lake for Water Sports; Best River for Fly Fishing; and Best River for Tubing.

Of Lake Jocasse , USA Today on its site stated that: “During a swim, visitors can scour the water for creatures like sunfish and trout, and as an added bonus, there’s no shortage of rushing waterfalls to admire along the shore.”
