After 12 years of casual brunch and dinner dining, Southern Culture Kitchen & Bar abruptly announced its closing at the end of June via social media post.

The modernized, southern-style restaurant at 2537 N. Pleasantburg Road was mostly known for its regional-themed brunch and dinner menu, which featured fried green tomatoes, braised short ribs, and a unique yet homely handmade cocktail menu.

Southern Culture Kitchen & Bar specializes in farm-to-table dining. Sourcing stone-ground grits directly from Timms Mill in Pendleton made staples like their shrimp and grits a southern pleasantry. Their dish was featured in the Greenville News' March Madness Shrimp & Grits competition in March.

On June 26, the restaurant temporarily closed down due to no hot water, and two days later, on June 28, the longtime restaurant closed down for good.

Southern Culture Kitchen & Bar is also part of the same ownership group as Habitap and TLO Burger Bar, which have all closed.
