    German manufacturer establishes North American HQ in Greenville

    A German producer of energy storage systems will establish its first North American manufacturing location and headquarters in Greenville.

    The $3 million investment by Fenecon International GmbH will create 68 jobs in Greenville County, according to a news release from the Greenville Area Development Corp .

    Fenecon is committed to climate protection and energy independence, the release stated, and the company develops advanced systems to store and manage electricity for residential, commercial and industrial use.

    Fenecon’s battery storage technology products provide businesses with robust power management solutions, address infrastructure challenges and pave the way for a sustainable energy future, the release stated.

    “With this expansion, we aim to extend our leadership in storage technologies and serve the American market with our award-winning, innovative solutions,” Thomas Goesswein, CEO of Fenecon International GmbH, said in the release. “Our multi-million euro investment in the USA underscores our commitment and confidence in the growth potential of this region.”

    The state-of-the-art 136,000-square-foot facility, located near Interstate 85 at 315 Tanner Price Way, will produce their flagship energy storage solution, the Industrial L, for the American commercial market. This product is designed to provide “every American business energy freedom,” according to Goesswein.

    “Greenville welcomes Fenecon and its award-winning battery energy storage systems. The company’s dedication to clean energy storage leverages our talent pipeline all while providing for a more sustainable future,” Greenville County Council Chair Dan Tripp said in the release.

    “Greenville County is honored to be chosen as Fenecon’s flagship U.S. location,” GADC CEO Max Stewart said in the release. “This decision highlights Greenville County’s position as a premier destination for innovative enterprises, and we eagerly anticipate the opportunities and growth it will bring to our community.”

    South Carolina Commerce Secretary Harry M. Lightsey III expressed state support for the company.

    “Fenecon’s decision to establish its North American headquarters in Greenville County reinforces our state’s reputation as a global destination for business,” he said in the release. “With South Carolina’s increased focus on advanced energy, we are pleased to add a company that produces innovative energy storage systems to our family of industries.”

    The Greenville County facility is expected to begin operations in September, the release said.
