GREER, S.C. (WSPA) – A large-scale technical outage impacted several airlines operating at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport.

The airport said airlines resumed operations after ground stops just before 10 a.m. but flights may be impacted throughout the day.

Several airlines face global ground stop and services disrupted worldwide in wake of major Microsoft Outage

GSP airport officials said travelers scheduled to fly on Friday should verify their flight status before heading to the airport.

Travelers should stay in contact with their airline for any updates regarding delays or cancellations, officials said.

Widespread disruptions were not the result of security incident or cyberattack

American Airlines said they have issued travel waivers for customers impacted by the outage and are asking customers to check their website or the American Airlines app for updates.

Allegiant canceled all flights scheduled to leave before 2 p.m. Eastern time.

Customers with Allegiant flights before that time should receive an email with options on how to get a refund or rebook on another flight. They also said that additional flight cancelations may be necessary.
