An Upstate Pharmacy Owner receives his sentence after negligent compounding.

According to the United States Department of Justice, between January 2018 and June 2019, 73 year old Richard A. Sheriff of Easley, owner and pharmacist-in-charge of Shertech, diluted a drug used in procedures such as renal scans to diagnose various illnesses, like kidney disease.

The drugs were provided to medical facilities in the Greenville area.

In this case, Sheriff and pharmacists under his direction would "split" the active ingredient of Technescan MAG3.  The result, the creation of "poor-quality scans and potential repeat scans with additional radiation exposure,”

Sheriff pled guilty to adulteration of a drug and has been sentenced to two years probation along with a $2,000 fine. He also forfeited $166,000 in revenue.
