‘It’s an eyesore’: Queen City residents call for Staunton Mall renovations
STAUNTON, Va. (WHSV) - The rubble that sits at the old Staunton Mall has many frustrated residents are calling for change. In 2021, Staunton EM 2, LLC. purchased the old Staunton Mall and asked tenants in the area to vacate. The company asked for a rezoning of the area so it could demolish the plot and build it anew with a mix of business and residential spaces. The demolition went through, but the construction did not. Rather, the rubble has sat still for over a year, waiting to be cleared by a contractor.

Virginia man convicted in 2021 Marion murder
A Virginia man was convicted of first-degree murder, and other charges, for the 2021 murder of Teresa Greer. 40 year old Jason Whittaker was convicted of first-degree murder, abduction, arson, and animal cruelty. His sentencing is scheduled for November 21 where he will be facing a maximum of two life sentences plus 15 years. Greer’s body was found in a fire-damaged home in Marion on North Chestnut Street.
