Cat Action Team is an all-volunteer non-profit based in Charlottesville. They believe that every cat has a right to a pain-free life with sufficient food, shelter, and medical care. They work to improve the quality of life for feral and community cats in Albemarle and 12 other counties in central Virginia. Cat Action Team sponsors a trap-neuter-vaccinate-return program, colony-maintenance and pet-retention, foster and adoption, and ongoing community education.

Six months after local Head Start provider closed, its executive director has resigned
Sarah Hanks, executive director the Monticello Area Community Action Agency, has resigned from her position, according to the organization’s website. Hanks’ resignation comes about six months after MACAA decided to surrender its Early Head Start and Head grants to the national Office of Head Start. The resignation occurred at MACAA’s June board meeting, which the Board did not allow members of the public to attend.
Triple digit heat index expected Tuesday in Augusta County
A heat advisory remains in effect 11 a.m. Tuesday to 8 p.m. this evening, according to an "urgent" alert issued at 4:11 a.m. from the National Weather Service. Heat index values up to 104 degrees are expected in the valleys, including central and eastern Augusta, Rockingham and Highland counties and cities of Staunton, Waynesboro and Stuarts Draft.

Nelson County: Motorcycle crash on Route 151 takes life of Nellysford man
Virginia State Police is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred at 7:46 p.m. Sunday on Route 151 in Nelson County. A 2017 Harley-Davidson FXDLS was heading northbound on Route 151, Rockfish Valley Highway, at the intersection with Route 627, Glenthorne Loop, when the motorcycle went off of the right side of the road, struck the roadbed of Glenthorne Loop, went airborne, and struck a guardrail.

The Virginia Cavaliers now have triple-digit MLB Draft selections under head coach Brian O’Connor.
