I-95 reopens in Greenwich, Connecticut after tractor-trailer crash

GREENWICH, CONN. -- I-95 has reopened in Greenwich, Connecticut after a tractor-trailer crash backed up the early morning commute.

Southbound lanes were closed overnight at exit 5 and reopened around 8 a.m.

Traffic was delayed past Stamford, and northbound traffic stretched to the New York state line.

The crash happened around midnight, and crews spent several hours on the scene.

Investigators said a tractor-trailer rear-ended a fire truck that was responding to another crash.

"This morning, while operating at an accident on I 95, engine 1 was struck by a tractor trailer causing a secondary multi vehicle accident resulting in the extrication and transport of multiple patients," the Greenwich Fire Department wrote on social media .

Three people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
