Patriotic-themed bike parade to cruise into St. Clair
Kids ready to experience the independence of bike riding can not only acquire their first bike in St. Clair this month, but can ride like its Independence Day also. The St. Clair Recreation Department has two events in July that can help kids get their wheels in motion this summer. The first is the Kids Garage Sale and Market, set for July 11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Eddy Center, located at 301 N. Ninth St. in St. Clair. The market is exclusively operated by kids to attract kid shoppers. Bikes, toys, games, crafts, art, jewelry, sports equipment and similar goods can be bought, sold or traded during the market. Children of all ages are welcome to participate.
Recreational vehicle totaled by fire
GREENWOOD TOWNSHIP—A recreational vehicle was totaled early Wednesday morning after the RV overheated and started on fire around 1 a.m., a St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office news release stated. Mike Baraslievski Steps Away from St. Clair Men’s Soccer
The St. Clair College Athletic Department officially announced the retirement of longtime Varsity Men’s Soccer Head Coach Mike Baraslievski. Baraslievski has led the Men’s Varsity Soccer program at St. Clair since 1992 which totals 31 seasons of fall outdoor soccer where he collected 174 wins overall in that span including 133 regular seasons victories which resulted in three West Division titles and 24 playoff appearances. 18 post-season wins allowed St. Clair to reach the podium three times including a rookie campaign Bronze along with a Silver Medal in 2000 to go with last fall’s CCAA National Bronze when the Saints hosted the event at St. Clair’s SportsPark Acumen Stadium. He was also part of the organizing committee when St. Clair hosted the OCAA Provincial Championship in 2001 and 2021. In addition, he was leader of the indoor team when the Saints fielded that program which accounted for another 15 years at the helm adding back-to-back OCAA Provincial Silver Medal performances to his resume in 2016 and 2017.
Fireworks to light up 4th of July weekend
A half-dozen fireworks displays are scheduled throughout the Blue Water Area over the next month. St. Clair has their traditional fireworks display along the St. Clair Boardwalk in Palmer Park on Thursday July 4th. Fireworks will cap off day three of the 86th annual Pickerel Festival in Algonac Friday. Lexington’s Fireworks begin at 9pm Friday followed by a parade the Saturday morning at 11am. Port Hope and Port Sanilac will light up the skies over Lake Huron both Saturday night.
