Knoblock And Soper To Debut American Custom Marine Raceboat At The St. Clair River Classic
The owner of American Custom Marine in Kimball, Mich., Michael Knoblock doesn’t simply enjoy speed on the water. Knoblock makes his living selling powerboats, from new Nor-Tech center consoles to pre-owned V-bottoms and catamarans, that deliver it. His most recent personal pleasure-boat, for example, was a well-known Outerlimits Offshore Powerboats 51 GTX called Mamba. Then-powered by a pair of Mercury Racing 1075SCi engines, the Dean Loucks-painted 51-footer topped 120 mph.
Marine City hires new DPW superintendent
The Marine City Commission voted unanimously on July 11 to hire Aaron Atkinson as superintendent of the city’s Department of Public Works. Retired DPW Superintendent Jeffrey Schmidt, who had a part-time, as-needed employment agreement approved at the commission’s June 20 meeting, came forward during the public comment portion of the meeting to speak.
Harbormaster Mike Davenport named Port Huron to Mackinac Race Committee Person of the year
Port Huron Harbormaster Mike Davenport was named the Port Huron to Mackinac Race Person of the Year for his dedication to the race. Davenport said he's been volunteering with the Bayview Yacht Club's race committee for the last 15 years. He said it's great to be recognized for what he's done with the committee. He said the award not only recognizes himself, but also all the other volunteers who work to make the race happen every year.
