Video: Denver Woman Attacks Young Skateboarders, Throws 11-Year-Old's Board Into River
A woman angry over children skateboarding at Denver's Confluence Park was caught on video chasing, grabbing and shoving the young boys. Before the video started capturing the action, the woman threw a skateboard belonging to eleven-year-old Charleston Davidson into the South Platte River, according to witnesses and an incident report from the Denver Police Department. The conflict happened on the evening of Friday, June 28, in Shoemaker Plaza, across from the flagship REI store.

1 killed, 1 injured in early morning shooting in Aurora
One man was killed and another was left with serious injuries after an early morning shooting in Aurora. Police said that two unidentified suspects came to the apartment located at 12170 E. 30th Avenue just after midnight Friday. Investigators said that the two men fired on two men inside the apartment. Both victims are adult men and have not been identified. No arrests have been made.
Aurora man drowns in S. Platte River after falling into water
A man from Aurora drowned after he fell into the South Platte River while celebrating the Fourth of July with his family. It happened near Deckers on Thursday afternoon. According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Jorge Ramirez-Flores, 57, was celebrating the holiday with his family when he lost his balance while walking on the rocks. He fell into the water.A family member tried to grab him but he was unable to do so in the fast-moving current. Ramirez-Flores quickly went downstream about two miles to the Gaskill Bridge, where unidentified citizens saw his body and pulled him out of the water but he was unresponsive. They tried to save him with resuscitation efforts until North Fork Fire arrived and took over. Unfortunately, their efforts were unsuccessful.

Police in Aurora clocked three different drivers speeding 100+ on I-225 on the Fourth of July. Officers said those three drivers have mandatory court appearances to speak with a judge about their reckless speeds. Police tweeted a reminder that "Driving this fast is not only illegal and dangerous but potentially deadly. Don't risk anyone else's life, or your own, by driving this fast."

New state program to reimburse college costs
The promise of a college education is within reach for more Coloradans, thanks to a new state program that reimburses the cost of tuition and fees for eligible students. The state’s Colorado Promise, administered by the Colorado Department of Higher Education, offers a tax credit for the first two years of in-state students’ education if they enroll in an area technical college, local district college, community college or university within two years of completing high school.

It was very mild considering the last decade of mostly hot Independence Days. Colorado Springs saw it's coolest since 2010 with a high of 81. For Denver, only the 2nd coolest since 2010, last year only made it to 78!
