WARNING: 4th Of July Fireworks Can Affect Texas Veterans With PTSD
Fireworks are synonymous with Fourth of July celebrations. They add to the celebration and party atmosphere as we celebrate the birth of our nation. Fireworks will be going off and lighting up the sky throughout Smith County as well as Gregg County and the other 252 Texas counties. We'll be 'ohh'ing and 'ahh'ing over the brilliant colors and displays, but there is a segment of our population that can be negatively affected by fireworks.
Officials search for missing teenage girl near Gladewater
GREGG COUNTY – The Gregg County Sheriff’s Office is looking to bring a teenage girl home safely after she was last seen on Thursday. According to our news partner KETK, the sheriff’s office is seeking information on 17-year-old Halo Faith Bumstead’s whereabouts after being reported missing. Bumstead is described as 5 foot 7 inches, biracial, has ear and tongue piercings. She was reportedly wearing light blue shorts, white shirt with dark blue pinstripes. Officials said she was last seen near 100 Home Place Circle near Gladewater.

CDC releases latest new HIV diagnoses data for East Texas
TYLER, Texas — The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released its data for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) diagnoses for 2023. "HIV is a virus that attacks the body's immune system," the CDC said. "Without treatment, it can lead to AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome). There is currently no effective cure. Once people get HIV, they have it for life. But proper medical care can control the virus. People with HIV who get on and stay on effective HIV treatment can live long, healthy lives and protect their partners."
