{KXLG – Bristol, SD} The South Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs (SDVA) will hold a State Bridge Dedication Ceremony on Monday, August 5th, 2024, to honor the service and sacrifice of three brothers, U.S. Navy Radioman Second Class Ordien F. Herr, Naval Air Force Lieutenant LeRoy M. Herr, and U.S. Navy Radioman Second Class Eugene L. Herr.

Arina Haugen caps freshman season with All-Around Rookie Cowgirl title at National High School Finals Rodeo
ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. — Arina Haugen joined a rare South Dakota company on July 20. The Sturgis High School sophomore-to-be claimed the All-Around Rookie Cowgirl title at the National High School Finals Rodeo. She’s just the third South Dakotan to earn the honor, joining Buffalo’s Kayla Nelson (1999) and Faith’s Dusti Varland (2004).

Fatal two-vehicle crash in Lincoln County under investigation
LINCOLN COUNTY, S.D. - A 28-year-old man died Friday, July 19, in a two-vehicle collision five miles northeast of Beresford, SD. Initial reports indicate that Darrian O’Neal Cline, driving a 2019 Jeep Cherokee, was heading east on 294th Street near 474th Avenue. Meanwhile, Michael D. Stinton was driving a Volvo semi-truck west on 294th Street. For reasons still under investigation, the Jeep crossed into the westbound lanes and collided head-on with the semi.
