    Fall for Fall, Agency Says

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. -- Vibrant reds, oranges and yellows make up delightfully intriguing fall foliage accenting Bucks County countryside, identified as a top place in the country for autumnal beauty, says the county’s official promotion agency.

Visit Bucks County said peak foliage begins in mid-October.

“Calling all ‘leaf peepers,” said the site. “ ‘Travel & Leisure’ has named Bucks County as the number one fall foliage destination in the United States.”

Top ways to take in Bucks County foliage include while on a scenic drive, from a hot air balloon, on a train or on foot, according to visitbuckscounty.com.

The agency recommends two self-guided scenic driving tours – the Covered Bridge Driving Tour and a ride along River Road (Route 32).

“Peppered throughout Bucks County’s country back roads are the 12 beautiful covered bridges still standing,” it said. “Marvel at their incredible authenticity and rich surrounding beauty.”

A drive along River Road and the Delaware River provides a ground level view “while taking in crisp autumn air with wading sounds of the Delaware River in the background,” said Visit Bucks.

The site’s next suggestion: “Experience Bucks County’s fall foliage at many heights” aboard a hot air balloon.

“Drift above miles of breathtaking landscapes as you soar on a picturesque adventure.” Private or shared rides launch from Peddler’s Village in Lahaska and allow passengers “to see views of the Delaware River and more.”

The county agency also suggested a train excursion on the New Hope Railroad.

“Ride in style in the 1920s vintage passenger coach” as it journeys “through picturesque countryside,” it said. The ride lasts two and a half hours.

The final agency suggestion is to stroll the cobblestone walkways of Peddler’s Village, a 42-acre shopping site.
