Meeder's Restaurant Added to NYS Historic Business Preservation Registry
State Senator George Borrello presented the New York State Historic Business award to Meeders Restaurant in Ripley to celebrate their incorporation into New York State's Historic Business Preservation Registry. Established by legislation passed in 2020, the Historic Business Registry includes businesses that have been in operation for at least 50 years and have contributed to their communities' history. Borrello nominated Meeder's Restaurant to the registry in 2023 in recognition of their role in helping shape the history, heritage, and identity of the Ripley community.

Massena woman arrested for series of vehicle thefts in Cayuga County
A Massena woman was arrested for stealing multiple vehicles in Cayuga County Wednesday. On February 29, deputies with the Cayuga County Sheriff's Office responded to Lake Road in the Town of Genoa for a car in a ditch. Deputies quickly learned the vehicle was stolen out of the Town of Mentz. Witnesses report they saw a woman flee the scene shortly after crashing. While continuing the investigation, deputies were notified a homeowner just north of their location on Lake Road reported their home was broken into and their car was stolen.

The Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL), the largest league in the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA), has the largest scholarship program in Eastern New York. The league distributed 29 scholarships at the LIJSL Scholarship Breakfast on Sunday, July 21 at the Huntington Hilton.
