Dry children beware — Gresham firefighters and police officers are ready to get revenge during a summer event that has the young and young-at-heart join in a massive “splash battle.”

Splash Day, hosted by The SDF Collective, returns noon to 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, at the Gresham Arts Plaza, 401 N.E. Second St. The free community event, now in its second year, includes water battles, a dunk tank, bounce houses, free ice cream cones for kids and music.

There will also be free water bottles, and all the supplies needed to participate in the water battles.

One of the main events is a battle between Gresham police and fire for ultimate bragging rights — though if last year is anything to go by local kids will be recruited to join in the fun and help tip the scales.

Sponsors for Splash Day include Burns Feed Store, Gresham Center for the Arts Foundation, Soundguy Productions, Modern Bounce House, Ziply Fiber, U.S. World Class Taekwondo, and Second Star Party Characters.

The SDF Collective is a space for creation, collaboration and inspiration in Downtown Gresham. Learn more at sdfcollective.com.
