The People’s Market in Rockwood offers produce, more in revamped season

Have you been craving southern-style greens? Not the basic stuff, but the real-deal, stick-to-your-ribs when stewed with a turkey leg, freshly grown collard greens?

Then swing by a weekly farmers market that has continued to grow and morph every weekend in Rockwood. The People’s Market, organized by Play Grow Learn, is held from 1-5 p.m. Sundays from June 23 through Nov. 3 at the East County Courthouse parking lot, 18480 S.E. Stark St.

More than 25 vendors have greens and produce, food, crafts and more. There is live music, vaccines, health and social services, and market tokens that can be used to get healthy veggies.

A special market will be the Back to School Fair Sunday, Aug. 25. In addition to the usual offerings, there will also be school supply giveaways, haircuts, hair braiders, kids games and more.
